Rafter Watches is a brand-new, one-model American independent built around a music conceit rather than the usual dive or field template. Coming out the gate with persaonality, the debut Arpeggio puts a skeletonized NH70 in a 40mm cushion case, with a sheet-music dial, note-and-clef shaped brass hands, and 200m of water resistance. It is a numbered Founders Edition of 500 pieces. Hope they keep going!

Sourcing Notes: Rafter's debut Arpeggio runs a Seiko NH70 skeletonised automatic (24 jewels, 21,600 vph, 41-hour reserve) in a 316L stainless cushion case with sapphire front and display back. Hands are brass, cut as musical notes and clefs with lume-filled etching, and the strap is calfskin with a 316L buckle. The brand publishes materials and caliber but not case, dial, or hands manufacturing origin, and the specific lume compound is not named.

No import duties for American buyers

This brand assembles in the US — watches ship tariff-free to domestic addresses.

No import duty on domestically assembled watches. Brands like TSAO Baltimore, Nodus, Vaer, and Vortic ship tariff-free to US buyers.

Tariffs are assessed based on where the watch is assembled, not where individual components originate. A watch with a Japanese movement assembled in the US incurs no import duty.
