    Brand vibe

Not unusual to the microbrand scene, Méraud is a one-man Belgian operation: Stijn Busschaert designs in Ghent, then has the watches built and assembled down in Switzerland. The name mashes together mer (sea) and émeraude (emerald), which explains that nice nautical streak running through both lines. Vintage-inspired without being a reissue, and priced well under what the Swiss-assembly claim usually costs.
